At my demos last year I was doing a card design with Origami in the shape of a teddy bear. As promised I have posted the instructions here.
Materials required
2 pieces of Square Paper (any size it is easier, the larger you use)
3 brads or buttons for eyes and nose
Piece of ribbon for bow
To make body
1) Take a piece of paper and place white side up on your work surface. Fold corner to corner and open up, fold opposite corner to corner open paper up again.
2) Again with white side up take one corner and fold into centre point, repeat with the other three corners.
3) Turn paper over and again fold the corners into the centre.
4) Turn paper over and again fold the corners into the centre.
5) Turn paper over. You are faced with four corners with slits, open up one slit and press the shape outwards giving you a rectangular shape on the edge of that corner, repeat with the other three corners.
6) Turn the paper over and take one triangular point and fold it up on its self.
7) Turn the paper over again on the bottom two rectangular shapes crease a small triangle into each corner and tuck them inside on them selves to form paws.
8) At the top of the shape (near the point) tuck the two triangle shapes at the top of the rectangles inside themselves, and then with your finger on the point gently hold where you have tucked the triangles in and pull the sides out and crease them along the diagonal slant to form the arms. Leave to one side
To make the head
1) Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the body with the other piece of paper
2) Turn the paper over and fold the top two corners only into the centre
3) Turn the paper over fold the base rectangular shape up into the centre
4) Fold the sides into the centre
5) Fold the triangular tip down into the centre
6) Turn over, again you are faced with two small squares with slits in. open up the slits and push the shapes out to form two rectangular shapes in the corners.
7) On these rectangles fold in the corners to make little triangles and tuck these in on themselves to round off the shape to look like ears
8) On the bottom of this shape again in the corners fold a triangular shape and fold inside to form the teddies jaw line
Attach body to the inside of the head.
Attach buttons to face and draw on a smile. Tie a bow and attach with glue. If you wish you can add buttons down the front of the teddies belly.
